When Paul writes in Romans 6:19–23 that “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life,” he reminds us that sin often promises freedom but delivers chains.
Many of us have chased desires that leave us empty or ashamed, but when we surrender to God, we trade slavery for sanctification — a life filled with peace, purpose, and lasting joy. To serve God is not to lose your life, but to finally find it.
Like the tree in Psalm 1, those who stay rooted in God’s Word never wither, even in dry seasons. Christ came, as Luke 12:49 says, “to set the earth on fire,” to burn away what’s false and awaken what’s true in us. His fire refines our hearts, divides truth from comfort, and calls us to stand firm in faith. True freedom is not doing what we want — it’s becoming who we were created to be: alive in righteousness, alive in Christ.
